Tannis Morgan

From October 2018- September 2019 I am on secondment to BCcampus as Researcher, Open Education.  The rest of the time I’m the Director, Centre for Teaching, Learning, & Innovation at JIBC, where I’m responsible for developing and implementing an e-learning strategy, and leading educational technology innovation and research projects. These include mobile learning, simulations, open education resources, and emerging delivery models.

I began my work in distance education and e-learning with the Distance Education and Technology Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC), under the direction of Dr. Tony Bates and Dr. Mark Bullen. I was then with the Office of Learning Technology (formally Distance Education and Technology) at UBC. Prior to coming to the JIBC, I was an instructional development consultant at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. I also completed my PhD at UBC, looking at online teaching in international distance education contexts. I was a researcher with the Digital Learners in Higher Education research project with Dr. Mark Bullen and colleagues from the University of Regina and the Open University of Catalonia. My current research focuses on student use of technology in applied education institutions and drivers that influence the uptake of open educational resources in higher education. Current and related research interests include:  alternative tertiary education systems; innovation in higher education; activity theory; applied education. Some of my lingering (but less active) interests are:  geolinguistics and sociolinguistics; issues related to qualitative research methodologies.

  1. Tannis – I got your request to join http://chem242.wikispaces.com
You don’t need to join to make full use of my class wikis or blogs. I would just suggest that you use http://chem241.wikispaces.com as a better example since most recordings there are not password protected. (I have to do that in 242 because I used the publisher’s powerpoint in my screencasts)

  2. Hi, Tannis, I am trying to find your email to send you a call of papers you might find interesting. No chance! so, I hope you can find yourself the way to it checking http://ub.academia.edu/AnaRemesal/Papers/918093/CALL_FOR_PAPERS._SPECIAL_ISSUE_Inquiry_into_Communities_of_Inquiry_Knowledge_Communication_Presence_Community
